Fannin Tree Farm Makes Major Donation
Donation of Trees Enhances Native Landscape and Practice of Sustainability for the Arts of Collin County Arts Park
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS – MAY 26, 2010 – The Arts of Collin County has received a significant contribution to the project in the form of an in-kind donation of trees, valued at over $111,000, from Fannin Tree Farm located in Frisco, Texas. A wide variety of trees will be provided by Fannin Tree Farm throughout the Phase One development which will include trees around the 2,100 seat performing arts hall, the meadow in front of the hall and along the roads and entrance to the Arts Park.
The donation will be celebrated during a reception on Wednesday, May 26th from 6-8p.m. at the TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, just north of the Arts Park site. The Craig Ranch site was chosen as Fannin has provided many of the trees in the Craig Ranch development as well as the TPC Craig Ranch clubhouse.
Founded in 1977 by the Fannin family, Fannin Tree Farm is still a family-owned and operated farm and retailer. Fannin specializes in specimen quality trees which are hand cared for by the Fannin team. These signature trees can be identified by their healthy look and balanced shape. Known as the only tree contractor in the Metroplex to grow their own trees, as well as transplant trees, you will find Fannin trees in distinctive residential and commercial properties. Fannin Tree Farm developed a patented Expand-A-Grow jacket system for containerizing harvested trees.
Blake Fannin, President and owner shared, “We are thrilled to be able to contribute to this wonderful project which is located just down the road from our business. The opportunity to lend our innovative practices of growing and harvesting native species to enhance the native landscape and to support the sustainable practices of the Arts of Collin County Arts Park, is exciting for our family and the team at Fannin Tree Farm.”
“The goals of the Arts of Collin County Arts Park align well with the Fannin Tree Farm philosophy and commitment to our community. This unique and innovative project allows us to give back to several of the communities, cities and counties in this area that have supported us and allowed us to grow and expand our passion for beautifying and sustaining our region with irreplaceable natural resources,” said Michael Fannin, Founder, Fannin Tree Farm.
“The Arts of Collin County is in the final stages of assembling all the pieces of the funding for the project and these significant private donations will help us reach our total goal very quickly. We are continuing to work closely with the Owner Cities to finalize the agreements as soon as possible,” states Mike Simpson, executive director of the Arts of Collin County. “The Arts of Collin County is grateful to Fannin Tree Farm and the Fannin family for their contribution. This donation of native specimens will significantly increase the quality and size of trees that will be incorporated into the landscape improvements to the park as part of our Phase One construction while further enhancing the natural terrain and habitat,” continues Simpson.
Located on the Sam Rayburn Tollway (Highway 121) in Frisco just west of Custer Road, the Fannin Tree Farm is close to the Arts of Collin County Arts Park. Partnering with local businesses with a vested interest in the cultivation of our community is an ideal relationship for the Arts of Collin County project.
