JIM MINYARD OF FRISCO APPOINTED TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR ARTS OF COLLIN COUNTY COMMISSION, INC.
COLLIN COUNTY, Texas – (April 22, 2009) -- Jim Minyard has been appointed to the Arts of Collin County Commission Board of Directors. Jim Minyards’ appointment as the second Frisco representative was approved by the Frisco City Council on April 7, 2009 and he was sworn into the Arts of Collin County Commission on Thursday, April 16, 2009.
Jim and his wife, Sue de Mille Minyard, are strong supporters of the Arts of Collin County and active in the arts community throughout North Texas.
“I have personally enjoyed the performing arts over the years. I have been fortunate to see the positive impact on my children and how they have benefitted from an early exposure to music and theater,” shares Minyard. “I am very excited to be part of this organization to help bring a broad exposure of the arts to our community, which I know will result in a very significant and positive impact,” continues Minyard.
A retired executive with a successful career in the electronics and technology industries, Jim now shares retirement with his wife, Sue spending time on various community charitable initiatives, as well as Global Ministry projects through their church.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jim to the Arts of Collin County Board. His business background and commitment to our community will be a tremendous asset to us. We’re grateful for his leadership as we continue with our private fundraising campaign and move toward construction of Phase One of the project later this year,” said Board President Steve Matthews.
The Arts of Collin County Board of Directors was recently expanded from five to seven members with two members representing each of the three owner cities, Allen, Frisco and Plano and one at-large member. With Minyard’s appointment, only one seat remains vacant, that of the at-large member. Recently, Mr. Steve Matthews was appointed as the second Allen representative and Mr. Bobby Baggett as the second Plano representative. The remaining representatives include Mr. Nick Barretta of Frisco, Dr. Betty Muns of Plano and Mr. Charles Nies of Allen.
